Culture Days
September 30, October 1 & 2

Picture
Stagetonescape and Canada Culture Days

Stagetonescape is a Toronto organisation devoted to presenting concerts that combine the arts - instrumental and vocal music, for example,  accompanied by images of paintings to create a synthetic experiance.
Its Artistic Director is pianist and vocal coach Valentin Bogolubov, who is also a former opera conductor (see attached biography), and all of Stagetonescape’s concerts
feature this outstanding musician, either in piano performance or accompanying
the world-class singers he trains.
The Stagetonescape Culture Days project will be held    in  three sessions:

During the first session, on Friday, September 30, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., virtuoso pianist ValentinBogolubov will perform some of the most beautiful masterpieces by Frédéric Chopin. This short concert will be followed by a discussion about the impact of music on our lives. Scientific research has shown that playing and listening to music can have a beneficial effect on the brain!
You are invited to join in this discussion by describing your own musical experiences or by asking questions about the preceding performance.
The second session: Calling all singers! – amateur, student, professional, old and young.
On
Saturday, October 1, 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Stagetonescape is offering the unique experience of an
individual coaching session with professional vocal coach and accompanist Valentin Bogolubov.
To qualify: prepare in advance a piece from the classical vocal repertoire – a simple song, a lieder or art song or
an operatic aria. Please make sure you provide Stagetonescape with a
copy of the music by September 15.
Be prepared to sing your piece in public. Apply early,
because space is limited.
Depending on your level of preparedness and choice of song, you may
be invited to participate in the third session of Stagetonescape’s project: the Gala Concert, to be held the next day, Sunday, October 2 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Even though you may not be
among the performers, you can still attend the coaching session and the concert,
which are all
open to the public, free of charge. Come and see how singers are trained for performance!

All of the above sessions will be held at:

Richmond Hill United Church 10201 Yonge St., Richmond Hill, ON,

To register for the coaching session, apply to Stagetonescape’s Executive Director -

                        Future Projects:

"Music - Light - Image"
Valentin Bogolubov playing
Alexander Scriabin's piano music
featured by the paintings of great Russian artists.

Picture
Russian composer Alexander Scriabin was one of the most fascinating musical personalities of his time, and many of his works are held to be masterpieces of piano literature. He developed a synthetic system of sound-colour assosiation and hoped to achieve an absolute synthesis of the arts, one that would involve most of the senses - not only hearing and sight, but also smell and touch - to arrive at a spiritual transformation through a vision of the world in constant vibration. Scriabin dreamed of building a temple to music in India - a sort of Hindu Bayreuth - to be used for the performance of his projected synthetic composition, "MYSTERIUM", a multimedia mega-work that would cause the listener to experiance something beyond the sound of the music itself.
In the project "Music-Light-Image"  Alexander Scriabin's piano music will be performed by Valentin Bogolubov and featured by the paintings of greatest russian artists.

Anna Shafajinskaia

Power and Beauty - in this words could be described the magnificent voice of Anna Shafajinskaia, world recognized dramatic soprano from Toronto. In this recital Anna Shafajinskaia and Valentin Bogolubov(piano) will perform the excerpts from West-European & Russian operas, but also the concert vocal music by S.Rachmaninov and P.Tchaikovsky.

            Lets make an Opera!
An Entertainment for Young People in Three Acts
including "The Little Sweep" a children opera
  Eric Crozier & Benjamin Britten

Picture
 - People like plays more than opera. They can understand the play quicker, because it shows people like us talking about ordinary things...
 - Opera is very like Shakespeare - it speaks in a magic language of its own, and because it isn't tied to everyday words and phrases, it can reveal all the wonderfull and terrible and exciting things that lie beneath the surface of everyday life...
 - Aren't operas always about love?
 - No, music just like poetry cuts to the heart of things - it shows you their gists and piths! Opera can be about anything - anything that lends itself to music!
 - What about the little sweep? Does he lend himself?
 - Plenty of music there!
 - But thousands and tousands of people think of opera in terms of outsize sopranos and swans going backwards!
 - There's plenty else to amuse them!...
(Excerpt from "Lets Make an Opera" by Eric Crozier).
